The Islamic Institute of Minnesot- IIM is a non-profit religious corporation serving Muslims in the State of Minnesota and surrounding areas regardless of color or place of origin. IIM emphasizes the value of diversity. Its efforts are targeted primarily towards serving Muslims growing and living in the United States. IIM was founded in 1993 with the philosophy of moderation in religion, strongly rejecting any extremism. IIM founded and operates three mosques in the Twin Cities area; Assalam Mosque in Maplewood, Burnsville Mosque in Burnsville, and Altawba Mosque in Eden Prairie. It also owns and operates an Islamic funeral Home in Burnsville, Maplewood and Columbia heights. For Islamic burials, IIM owns and operates two Islamic cemeteries; AlBaquee Cemetery in Roseville and Garden of Eden Cemetery in Burnsville.
The Islamic Institute of Minnesota declares the following as its ideology, purpose and goal:

1. We stand for Universal peace, love and compassion.
2. We reject violent Jihad and stand against violent Islamist extremism and call all civilized people to stand with us to eliminate these organizations.
3. We stand for the protection of all people of all faiths and non-faith.
4. We reject bigotry, oppression and violence against all people based on any prejudice including ethnicity, gender, language, or religion.
5. We support equal rights for women including work, mobility, personal law, education and employment. Men and women have equal rights in this mosques, boards, leadership and all spheres of society.
6. We are against political movements in the name of any religion.
7. We reject the notion of an Islamic State along with the Islamic caliphate.
8. We believe in free speech.
9. We believe in freedom of religion and the right of all people to express and practice their faiths, or non-faith without threat of intimidation, persecution, discrimination or violence.
